Position Summary:

Seeking licensed vocational nurse for full-time position (40 hours/week) on project providing viral hepatitis education, screening, vaccination and treatment to individuals with experiences of or at risk for homelessness. Willprovide testing and vaccination to individuals as authorized by the appropriate medical provider.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Attending educational and screening events (4-5 per month) where the hire will draw blood for HBV/HCV screening

  2. Follow-up with individuals to provide results of tests and screening

  3. Administers HAV/HBV vaccination to individuals

  4. May assist with making appointments, scheduling laboratory tests, and posting charts

  5. Travel to multiple housing sites (all within Harris county) in a single day

  6. Recording all job activities in a data management system

  7. Must be able to respond to emergency situations

  8. Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:

Current Texas Licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse

Preferred:

*Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a complex schedule

  • Cultural sensitivity in working with diverse communities including ability to develop rapport with diverse individuals

  • Ability to work independently

Minimum Education:

LVN License issued by the Texas Board of Nursing

Minimum Experience:

None

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
