Position Summary:

The Director of Analytics Research Center carries out research and service activities within the Biomedical Informatics Group. The primary functions of this role include conducting informatics research functioning as the primary lead, collaborating with other investigators on informatics research, and supporting clinical research as well as clinical quality improvement efforts. This position is intended to coordinate these functions and provide leadership to its staff.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Manages all project activities including feasibility, staff assignments, prioritization and progression.

  2. Collaborates with leadership to set strategic direction aligned with University and BIG-ARC goals. Participates in implementation of changes in policies, processes, practices, and training.

  3. Responsible for project planning and development. Designs research protocols which may include background, rationale, objectives, methodology, and statistical considerations for problem resolution. Promotes process improvement through the development, refinement and use of quality measures and program evaluation methods.

  4. Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws (e.g., HIPAA), regulations, as well as University and program policies and procedures.

  5. Responsible for financial planning for BIG-ARC including financial projections and monitoring operating expenses.

  6. Identifies and provides educational research opportunities for junior team members. Critiques their efforts providing guidance as needed. Ensures direct reports follow acceptable security procedures and completes mandatory training courses.

  7. Manage Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development including research, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations and salary planning. Provides direction and guidance to personnel within department.

  8. Assists CTSA Informatics Director with development of grant proposals, including problem definition and impact, desired key outcomes, success measurements and budget requirements.

  9. Other duties as assigned


Project management experience required, PMP preferred.

Minimum Education:

Master’s degree in biomedical informatics or related field. Doctorate degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Seven (7) years of experience in a related research environment and have verifiable publications within the field of the research project.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
