Utilities Service, LLC Concrete Foreperson in Sunnyvale, Texas

We are currently seeking a Concrete Foreperson for the Dallas Fort Worth area to join our American Lighting & Signalization, LLC team in the Street Light Construction and Maintenance Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Primary Function is supervising, monitoring, and coaching crews while work is being performed.

  • Supervises the crew to ensure proper administration of training, disciplinary action, work production, adherence to safety practices and interpretation of polices.

  • Responsible for training crews on proper job briefing techniques and work tasks and ensure hazards associated with the job are mitigated.

  • Examines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure.

  • Lays out worksite as needed.

  • Determines sequence of activities

  • Working from contract documents, project plan and schedules and other relevant information, create a weekly/daily Project Work Plan

  • Identify and schedule each component of the plan and assign appropriate manpower and equipment to each activity daily

  • Monitor all job site activity throughout the day, coordinating and balancing activity to ensure that the daily plan is achieved, making adjustments in assignment as necessary for the master plan, schedule and budget is adhered to.

  • Required to perform Job Briefing Observations daily.

  • Provide daily communication with the client’s representatives.

  • Directs the crew members on specific job tasks.

  • Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.

  • Enforces safety practices.

  • Assists with accident reports and incident investigations.

  • Responsible for job cost control.

  • Responsible for inspections, proper working conditions and necessary repairs to tools and equipment.

  • Assists with field training to crew members on new equipment.

  • Directs emergency situations.

  • Confers with customers, property owners, general public, other contractors and representatives of utilities and governmental agencies.

  • Employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insects.

  • Working hours are typically 10 hours per day.

  • Responsible for accurate work reporting and verifying/tallying invoicing totals.

  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.

  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have minimum 5 years in the industry constructing ADA Ramps, sidewalks, curb and gutters.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, TxDot, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Possess strong carpentry skills for constructing and removing formwork for structural and paving concrete.

  • Be proficient in the use of finishing tools, such as vibrators, hand trowels, trowel machine, bull floats, hand floats, straightedges, edger, etc.

  • Understand blueprints, sketches or building plans to determine dimensions and materials required for form, or framing, construction.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.

  • Work safely, productively and exhibit professionalism with a great attitude.

  • Display a high level of integrity, teamwork, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.

  • Formwork includes job-built forms and/or formwork systems.

  • Must be able to identify the hazards on the job.

  • Must have cognition to solve problems.

  • Must be able to read & follow prints.

  • Must be able to visualize the job build.

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment such as a Hard Hat, work gloves, eye protection, and FR clothing at a minimum when working on the ground.

  • Must be able to follow directions, work safely & productively

  • Must be able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.

  • Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.

  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.

  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.

  • Must be able to communicate with others.

  • Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.

  • Must have transportation to and from the show up location.

  • Must be willing to travel. When work out of town is required, 2 persons is expected to share a hotel room.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s license.

  • Must pass a background check and pass a motor vehicle records check.

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical in order to obtain a DOT medical card

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
