What you get to do every single day
Take charge of all questions and requests related to payroll Handle payroll record updates by keeping changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation Maintaining employee confidence and protecting payroll operations by keeping information confidential Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary Handle payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis Deliver assistance to payroll with internal and external audits Reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities as needed Put together for department heads the circulation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports Using federal and state regulations and guidelines, certify company compliance Reviewing and verifying source documents Exercise of proper data management by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data Handle other duties as necessary Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen Experience with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc. Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why" Well-founded grasp of benefits payroll Practical knowledge of payroll taxes Solid understanding of ADP Workforce Now Proven knowledge of payroll management General familiarity with garnishments payroll Knowledge of Lawson Proficiency in payroll Payroll for over 500 employees experience highly desired Foundational knowledge in multi-state payroll Mastery of internal controls Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills Certified Payroll detail oriented designation favored Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data 5+ years of payroll experience Previous experience using accounting software
