Dow Chemical Logistics Technical Advisor in Seadrift, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual to fill the role ofLogistics Technical AdvisorinSeadrift, Texas.
The LP2/LP1F Technical advisor supports the three production trains at LP2 and 3 compounding lines at LP1F. The technical advisor is responsible for bins at LP2, LP1F, silos block, and 245. In addition, they have responsibility for equipment related to product loading, transloading, and unloading of hopper cars in these areas.
The Technical advisor reports directly to the Site Logistic Production Leader and must have strong plant knowledge and experience, have a very strong working knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures, have great teamwork skills, be well organized and effective at coordinating operations tasks, and ensure the Plant activities create value and are performed safely. The individual must utilize working knowledge of the process to coach and enhance the technical capabilities of the operations team by sharing experience, technical skills and knowledge, and developing new operating discipline as required. He or she must have strong organizational skills, be able to effectively multi-task, and coordinate the activities for the Startup and Shutdown Processes. This position serves as primary backup to the other Technical Advisors as needed.
Technical/subject matter resource for the operation of loading/ unloading equipment in primary and back areas of responsibility
Works with the Production Plant, Supply Chain Planners and Quality Coordinators to understand the production needs and quality requirements of the products produced.
Coaches Plant personnel to resolve loading equipment and process issues.
Reviews Logbook entries, assigns follow up items, and ensures daily issues pertaining to equipment and Unplanned events are properly addressed.
Monitors cost center expenditures and meets with maintenance groups to determine the need/ extent of a repair.
Work with Maintenance Reliability Groups to help determine and develop equipment strategies for equipment used in loading products.
Follows up on equipment repairs to validate and confirm completion of repairs.
Facilitates or participates in root cause investigations on Quality Messages and EH&S issues.
Serve as Dow owner and follows-up on actions items assigned to site logistic contractors.
Initiates updates to equipment records and services for the equipment.
Works with maintenance contacts to assist in determining repairs and upgrades to equipment
Participates as required in product stewardship audits, customer visits, provide support to address and resolve customer needs.
Initiates and performs investigations in matters involving quality and EH&S incidents.
Review, revise, and maintain plant procedures, training/operating guides, and manuals
Forecast and communicates the need for big ticket maintenance items or expense needs for equipment.
Administers the performance certification walk through verification of understanding (field test) and participates in the Board of Review for site logistics contractors
Approve critical lifts, confined space entry, and Class A2, A1&SW-1 permits with Site Logistics.
Monitor container fill efficiency and update any communications and/or metrics
Periodically attend Plant Operation’s Staff meetings
Act as Plant hurricane coordinator and early returnee.
2 or more years of experience in Operations.
Demonstrated strong communication and teamwork skills.

Successful candidate is expected to be able to work a flexible schedule and have the ability to work overtime occasionally based on coordinating event resolution in the plant or coordinating start up and shutdown activities.

Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. In order to qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.
Previous experience at the Seadrift site.
Proficient in computer use, particularly Microsoft Office; experience in the use of E-Log, MTL, and GEMTS.
Active participation on EH&S, productivity, and reliability improvement teams.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
