- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.2. Expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other productivity software.3. Expertise with PC and Apple.4. Technical and mechanical knowledge with experience installing, updating, maintaining, and supporting computer hardware, software, operating systems, and equipment, as well as non-technical items such as computer tables, desks, etc.5. Experience troubleshooting computer hardware and software,LAN, and interconnectivity issues.6. Experience publishing in a web environment using content management systems, graphic design software, and video editing software.7. Knowledge of IT security best practices and policies.8. Demonstrated decision-making skills and able to prioritize effectively.9. Ability to work independently, be proactive, as well as work collaboratively to complete tasks.10. Ability to develop departmental technical reports, polices and procedures, inventory, usage statistics, and hardware/software purchasing and budgeting.11. Ability to assist faculty, staff, and students with updating and maintaining computer hardware and software.12. Ability to interact effectively with others and the ability to translate technical information into layman’s terms for Texas State faculty, staff, and students.
- A Bachelors’ degree or Master’s degree.2. Experience with online learning management systems.3. Experience with e-learning environments.4. Experience with Texas State programs including,SAPPortal,GATO, and Banner information system.5. Knowledge of database management.6. Hiring, training, and supervisory experience.7. Experience working in higher education.
Responsible for providing technical support and direction to departmental faculty, staff, and students of the university.
Assist with hardware and software; coordinate computer lab activities; hire, train, schedule, and supervise student workers; maintain, troubleshoot and repair hardware; install and upgrade network cards and software; develop specifications and purchase automated equipment; assist faculty in maintenance, repair and purchasing of computers; maintain and repair classroom computer equipment; maintain inventory of hardware and software; maintain preventative measures including anti-virus to ensure proper function of all computers and related equipment; maintain statistics on usage of various computer labs; maintain departmentalLANand device inter-connectivity; develop and enforce lab policies and procedures; prepare various reports and develop specifications for use; plan and implement hardware and software upgrades; acquire and install equipment in classrooms and offices; perform other duties as assigned.
