San Antonio Behavioral Health Nurse Manager in San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare is looking for a forward thinking, organized, energetic Nurse Manager that delivers on objectives and seeks an opportunity to develop, implement, and deliver change within the organization. The Nurse Manager will have the responsibility for organizing and overseeing the nursing functions of Behavioral Health, ensuring the care, meets high quality standards. In addition, the Nurse Manager is responsible for several administrative responsibilities, some of which are performance improvement, staff development, policy and procedure initiation and updating, and strict adherence to regulatory requirements such as Joint Commission.
Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of overall nursing care to patients for a 198-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital.
Provides managerial support in combination with the Chief Nursing Officer by providing supervision and evaluation of all nursing personnel on the unit.
Facilitates day-to-day nursing operations within the practice, including managing patient, staff and provider interactions.
Responsible 24 hours a day for the staffing and management of patient care in each of his/her units, for promoting the practice of professional nursing in a specified patient care area, and for the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources (human and material) needed to fulfill those responsibilities.
Works cooperatively with administrators, physicians, staff, other managers, and all customers of San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital to provide services, which consistently meet and exceed the expectations of their customers.
Promote the highest standards of quality of patient care by appropriately managing patient flow.
Provides support and training to staff, to encourage their abilities to effectively provide service and patient care.
Develop and implement staffing plan for shift based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff.
Serve as a resource to staff for solving problems.
Provide immediate follow-up, documentation and communication to employees.
Conducts and maintains nursing staff meetings.
Ensures appropriate orientation of new employees and on-going training and development of clinical staff to meet changing needs and organizational demands.
Completes annual employee evaluations for nursing staff.
Regularly attends meetings as required for position or department.
Participates in the recruitment, selection and hiring process for nursing positions.
Proactive in employee mentoring, coaching, and discipline.
Promotes staff education opportunities and coordinates training when applicable.
Assist in bi-weekly nursing payroll.
Provides total supervision in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer.
Assists the team and providers in delivery of patient care, works with nursing, clinical and providers to resolve all emergent patient or nursing issues in a timely manner.

Registered Nurse Required, BSN required. MSN preferred.
Current Texas Nursing license.
3 years of experience in acute care setting.
Minimum of 1 year management experience in Nursing.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Evidence of continued professional development.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
