Rackspace is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team full time in our San Antonio, TX global headquarters.
Rackspace is looking for systemsengineers/hackers/automatorsto help automate and deliver the next generation of Rackspace security products. As a member of the Defensive Infrastructure team in Rackspace Managed Security (RMS) you will participate in projects that bind various customer environments together with innovative security related products. The role you will play will help define a solid enterprise system that will change the face of Rackspace managed services. Working in Rackspace Managed Security, you will beautomating/monitoring/testingand deploying security products that are part of the foundational software systems critical to running RMS in any cloud or environment. As a result, you will have an opportunity to work on a high impact, high visibility team that will take fanatical support to new heights.
Responsible for complex architectural design and development of hardware, software, and networking systems. Analyzes systems and determines business requirements.
Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance.
Requires leading-edge skills in the latest areas of new technology.
Mentors lower level engineers or administrators, and demonstrates the ability to own large subsystems with a high degree of accountability.
Assists Manager to identify gaps in training and process.
Reviews and approves technical documentation.
Ability to diagnose and fix the most complex server and system-wide issues.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
RHCE certification or equivalent is required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 6+ years Linux systems experience, including systems administration and design/architecture experience required with a minimum of 3 - 4 years working in the Rackspace environment or equivalent FANATICAL customer support work place.
RHCT and RHCE or MCSE certification or equivalent is required.
At the manager’s discretion equivalent experience may substitute for the degree requirement. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Excellent knowledge of MIS objectives and strategies.
Excellent technical knowledge in technology methodologies, design, and implementation.
Excellent analytical and design skills atmulti-product/multi-environmentlevel.
Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to resolve problems in a timely manner.
System Engineering level knowledge of Windows / Linux OS required, including scripting in Python or Powershell.
Engineer / architect level knowledge of AWS or Azure cloud platforms required. Basic Knowledge of HTTP required.
General Knowledge of Back-ups, Caching, CDN, Cluster management, Firmware, HTML, Linux Shell Scripting, OS/DISTR, OSPF/IOS, Role Servers, SMTP/Mail Relays, SQL querywriting/troubleshooting,SSL Certificates, Sys Design, and Web servers.
Advanced knowledge of Linux and/or Windows, Packet Management, Advanced scripting language, Auth/ Directory services, DBA, HA, Networking, Packet analysis, Security, Storage, System Optimization, and Patching required.
Expert knowledge of Hardware, Load balancing, Performance Monitoring, and DNS required.
