Lab Assistant -- San Antonio, TX

LabCorp is seeking a Lab Assistant in the Histology department of San Antonio, TX! This first shift position will have the hours of 6:00am -- 2:30pm, Monday - Friday, Saturday and Sunday as needed hours may change based on locations. The candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills in the areas of the technical lab. They need to know the ins and outs of a lab.

The functions of the Lab Assistant position will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Will assist in sorting and accessioning of lab specimens for testing.

  • Case Assembly and distribution, properly labels, packages, and transports tissue blocks and slides for storage and retrieval completely, accurately, and in accordance with departmental guideline and procedures.

  • Performs all paperwork, technical, and non-technical procedures to process and submit specimens.

  • Assigns specific computer generated identification numbers, checks for accuracy, and records all items processed.

  • Forwards accessioned specimens to designated laboratory locations. Locates specimens and pull from various departments as requested.

  • Complying with LabCorp and regulatory agency policies and procedures.

  • Prior lab experience preferred, high school diploma required.

  • Candidate with Associate's/Bachelor's in Science degree may be eligible to participate in a career path program to become a Technician/Technologist.

License/Certification/Education: Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent w/1-2 years of experience.
