University of Texas Health Science Center Clinical Research Nurse-Associate in San Antonio, Texas
Associate’s degree with a current Texas Registered Nurse license and one (1) year nursing experience in the designated study area.
Assists in clinical research trial management. Responsible for enrolling subjects into clinical trials, preparing regulatory documents, transferring clinical data into a biobanking database, and gathering clinical research data and biological specimens.
Nursing certification and strong background in clinical trials. Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills are needed.
Enroll patients into clinical trials, complete study procedures and collect biospecimens. Screen clinics for possible subject in various IRB approved clinical trials. Consent and enroll patients for clinical studies, including clinical trials at the Mays Cancer Center, Medical Arts Research Center, University Hospital and Audie Murphy Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Manage the subjects enrolled in the trials which include collecting biospecimens, gathering relevant clinical data and entering it in the database, administering questionnaires, arranging for drug administration, providing patient education, managing subsequent visits, and providing communication of any relevant clinical results to the subject and their physicians. Track and maintain accrual and study goals to ensure specific aims are met. Assess adverse events and report to Principal Investigator/Research Manager.
Transfer clinical data into a biobanking database. Access clinical records of consented patients seen by UT faculty and retrieve specific data fields to be entered into a biobanking database. Perform quality assurance and provide reports to investigators, Research Division Chief or research offices as needed.
Prepare regulatory documents for established and new clinical trials. This includes annual reports, amendments, non-compliances and adverse event reporting to the IRB and affiliate research offices.
