Field of Study

Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or a related field.

MS Office Experience Required Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Other Computer and Software Skills Required

Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, accounting software and standard office equipment.

Experience and Other Skills Required

-Five years of experience in financial post award administration of sponsored projects.

-Significant experience interpreting and implementing Federal, State and Private industry grant and contract regulations.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced analytical skills.

Other Skills Preferred

-Experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP system preferred.


-Postaward grants experience including invoicing, reconciling subsidiary ledgers, and financial reporting.

-Experience with month end close.

Description of Job Duties

-Provide assistance and training to support staff in the Grants & Contracts Office.

-Prepare and/or review financial reports to ensure compliance with federal administrative requirements and State, UT System, University, and sponsor policies.

-Analyze financial data relevant to sponsored projects

-Review, approve, or process accounting documents prepared by support staff or other departments.

-Serve as the lead in handling award set ups and modifications and resolve issues in these areas

-Maintain and update Sponsor general information within financial system

-Advise faculty and staff with the fiscal aspects of sponsored projects.

-Engage with grants and contracts staff of UT Share schools and other research institutions regarding best practices.

-Assist with development of job aids and procedural manuals.

-Assist with month end and year end close processing.

-Represent the office in the absence of the Director.

-Assist the Director in the preparation of annual or year-end institutional reports.

-Perform other duties as assigned.
