Honeywell’s Sensing and Internet of Things (SIoT) business’s Advanced Technology (AT) groups is looking for a new team member who is motivated by cracking tough challenges with data, trained in problem solving, and with an unending thirst for learning. SIoT AT is responsible for creating and reducing to practice the next generation of sensing systems and solutions for our business.

Specifically, we are seeking a Data Processing Engineer to work within existing project teams to develop novel sensing systems and methods and build complex calibrations leveraging multi-dimensional data.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Integrate with existing project teams to develop prototype systems and lead the creation of the methods used to collect data from these systems to inform the next prototype design

  • Act as a technology leader within Honeywell, proposing changes to existing technical approaches to advance projects


  • MS in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or data processing focused advanced degrees in natural sciences

  • Three (3) years of experience in a laboratory research environment developing innovative sensors and sensing systems – a key area of interest is in optical sensing systems requiring angular spectrum propagations and/or Fourier transforms

  • Extensive design & build experience with electronic circuits, laboratory instrumentation, and/or systems testing.


  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related field.

  • Strong desire to understand and the transduction mechanism of novel sensing systems and subsequently work within a team of like-minded engineers & scientists to develop tailored ML-based data treatment methods

  • Experience working with remote and global teams

  • Ability to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies in support of new concept development

  • Result-driven, positive “can-do” attitude

  • Strong understanding of the statistics, probability, and algorithms that enable you to quickly come up with solutions that combine multiple information stream

  • Experience with design and implementation of hardware and software for various applications.

  • Experience working with low signal to noise type circuits and high EMI environments.

  • 3 years of sensor electrical design engineering experience.

  • 3 years of experience with sensor signal conditioning, ADC’s, ASIC's and microcontrollers in products, circuits, and systems.

  • Experience with hardware (electronics, embedded devices, circuit design) and/or firmware (HDL/embedded C programming).

  • Highly skilled in circuits and systems for laboratory instrumentation (e.g. multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition hardware).

  • Highly skilled in MATLAB, Lab VIEW, C++, C, and/or Visual Basic.

  • A strong understanding of big data concepts and knowledge of big data languages/tools
