Job Description

About the Role:

Cyient has an immediate opening for a Field Technician in our Telecommunications Business Unit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Outside Plant (OSP) field data collection in various locations across Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches, and surrounding areas. The candidate will visit multiple job locations daily and collect, record and analyze existing field conditions related to future telecom fiber designs at the customer locations and immediate surrounding area. The candidate will also learn to determine ideal locations & situations for above ground equipment and fiber optic cables and identify issues in the field that could impact network designs.

You will collect and submit data using various types of handheld electronic GIS equipment, and other hand held equipment. Work may involve walking one or more miles daily while collecting data. We will provide job training in the use of electronic equipment required to complete the work and outside plant utility recognition/design will be provided. You will be a remote employee and report directly to the Engineering Section Manager in Allen, TX. We will compensate you for mileage. Primary work assignments are expected to be in the D/FW area but flexibility for travel assignments of up to 3 to 4 weeks at a time is strongly preferred.

You will:

  • Travel to multiple job locations daily to review proposed designs for field accuracy and propose adjustments when needed.

  • Take field measurements and photos of utility poles, equipment, cables, proposed equipment locations and existing customer telecommunications equipment rooms.

  • Collaborate with the on-site customer to determine pre-construction/installation requirements and complete all necessary Site Visit Checklists and other related documents.

  • Walk and work outdoors daily, in different weather conditions.

You'll Need:

  • 1+ years of experience with utility construction in an outside plant environment preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience with reading and analyzing utility work prints preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience with aerial, underground or buried telecom infrastructure preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience with GO95, GO128 and NESC requirements preferred.

  • 1+ years of experience with O-Calc, SPIDA or other wind-loading software or equipment preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license, car insurance, clean driving record and reliable transportation is required.
