Job Description

The Graduate Research Assistant will assist the instructor of CHEG 4011 and CHEG 4031 in the laboratory. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with developing experiments for new and under-utilized instruments. Assignments are per semester or nine months.


  • Installing and updating software.

  • Grading assignments and lab reports.

  • Updating MSDS notebook when materials are ordered.

  • Monitoring undergraduate students in the lab and ensuring proper PPE is worn.

  • Maintaining and assuring labs are clean, and ready for use.

  • Checking eyewash/shower stations. Properly storing waste chemicals

  • Performing research experiments in the development of continuous stirred tank reactor experiment using alkylation and dehydrogenation reactions and refractive index measurements.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Six months of related work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze data and written materials and give verbal and written recommendations.

  • Ability to develop and give presentations, as well as assist others and develop assessments.

  • Ability to be professional in the face of difficult circumstances.

  • Ability to assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures and using a proactive team approach to continuous improvement.

  • Ability to develop and implement methods and practices that ensure a multicultural environment.
