Landpoint Pipeline Survey Rodman/Instrument Man in Pecos, Texas

Job Description:

Landpoint Survey is hiring for our Special Projects division for a pipeline project ranging from Crane TX to Wink, TX area and we need qualified preliminary pipelining crews to join our team!

Preliminary survey is scheduled through December 2018, with As-built kicking off after New Year.


  • Will work primarily in the field on pipeline surveys as Instrument Man / Rodman of a survey field crews in urban and remote Texas areas.

  • May also perform some office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey computer programs and AutoCAD.

  • Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line of sight.

  • Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data, and as instructed by Party/Crew Chief and/or Field Coordinators.

  • Reads and understands plans and specifications.

  • Know basic sources of measurement errors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Dig ground using a pick, shovel and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments.

  • Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Know, understand and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.

  • Must be able and willing to travel.

  • Field positions will be offered per diem to assist with travel. Daily and/or weekly travel will be required for the duration of the project.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • A minimum of 1 years total pipeline survey experience highly preferred.

  • Experience in controlling the function of surveying instruments, calculators and/or various computer equipment and technology.

  • Trimble equipment experience a plus.

  • Must be physically able to work long hours and carry heavy loads.

  • Possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential to these positions.

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather and natural elements with working in Texas.

  • Overtime and weekend work will be required throughout the duration of this project.

  • Valid Drivers License required, must be able to pass MVR and clean/insurable driving record.

  • Successful passing of drug test, fit-for-work light physical, I-9 verification, MVR and background check required as pre-employment terms.

  • Successful candidates will also be required to participate in random drug testing as required by the client and company policy(ies).
