Role Summary:

Provide general supervision over all engineering activities at the facility to ensure compliance within annual budgets, quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Follow and enforce all HSE policies.

  • Prepare and submit reports, including annual capital budgets, and to work within these budget guidelines.

  • Manage Process and Project Engineering staff and associated contractors (10-15).

  • Oversee Project Engineering group to ensure high quality project planning and execution.

  • Develop 1 Year and 5 Year CapEx plans with focus on optimization of HSE, Growth, and Continuous Improvement projects.

  • Approve and direct contractors that support engineering and capital project execution.

  • Integrate project work into production schedule to efficiently complete work with minimal impact to plant production.

  • Ensure all projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget.

  • Provide daily support to operations for all process related issues.

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis on quality events to determine cause of failure and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment failures, operational issues, and maintenance items.

  • Provide process engineering support to Project Engineering during the development, scoping, construction, and start-up of new projects.

  • Provide process engineering support to customers when requested.

  • Participate in business development opportunities where process engineering knowledge is required.

  • Participate in Health, Environment & Safety related initiatives such as Operability Studies, HAZOPS, and incident investigations.

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA/PSM Regulations

  • Ensure compliance with all legal safety guidelines

  • Ensure compliance against any set Environmental permitting

  • Provide guidance and career development to all engineering staff.


  • BS in Chemical Engineering

  • Batch Chemical Plant Experience

  • 8 years experience in a PSM covered facility

  • Prior management experience

  • Prior experience with FED/FEL stage gate processes

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience managing projects $2MM+ in total cost

  • Experience in Oil&Gas chemical manufacturing

  • Experience working in a union environment

  • Familiarity with SAP applications or similar operating system

  • Understanding of CMMS applications
