Clinical CoordinatorSummary: Under basic supervision of the Director of Employee Health, this position is responsible for the development and administration of efficient and professional medical care for all City employee, retirees and dependents; performs approved procedures within the score of authority, and is a licensed medical services provider.Essential Functions:--Essential functions as defined under the American Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Under the direction of the Director of Employee Health; oversees the administrative and operational activities of the employee health clinic.Coordinates the day-to day activities of the employee health clinic to allow for routine related activities.Under the direction of Director of Employee Health; may assess and assist in the treatment of all injuries andillnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with clinic guidelines.May assist departments with identifying, evaluating and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty.Provides generalist and specialist patient health care services, including duties of Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, Health Assistant, and Patient Care Technician.May be required to peform basic physical examinations and medical assessments; evaluates patient complaints.Provides medications and injections as directed by the Director of Employee Health; updates patient files.Performs a variety of tests to evaluate patient health.Maintains confidentiality of patient records in compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974{U.S.C. 552A}, and Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance at work.Orders supplies and materials for the clinic.Supports the relationship between the City of Odess and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: Active state nursing license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or as Registered Nurse (RN) required. Bachelor's degree is highly desirable, but not required; AND must have at least three (3) years of clinical experience.Knowledge of:Policies, guidelines, and professional practice standards of the Texas Department of Agin and Disability Services (DADS) Regulatory Services Divsion, Licensing and Credentialing Section.Applicable Texas statutes and City ordinances regarding Public Health programs.Principles, practices, and methods of providing Medical Assistant services.Principles and practices of medical records management and patient file documentation standards.Regional public health protocols, communicable disease issues and reporting protocols.Regional community service agencies and other public assistance programs.Business and personal computers, and specialized software applications.Skill in:Examining patients and evaluating health problems and medical conditions.Remaining alert at all times and reacting quickly and calmly in difficult situations.Writing and completing accurate reports.Interacting with people of different social, economic and ethnic backgrounds.Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing.License and certification requirements: A valid Texas State Driver's License is
