The Director of Service - Navistar Division is responsible for providing support to the service departments at the Company’s dealership network level to assist with promoting the products we sell and customers we support.

Responsibilities:

  • Remain aware of manufacturer programs and policies, including warranty programs and policies, to ensure dealership service department employees are educated about these programs and policies.

  • Analyze data and work with service managers to improve performance.

  • Evaluate market share data and work with managers to focus departments at our dealerships on increasing their market share.

  • Mentor managers.

  • Assist managers in resolving complex issues with customers and manufacturers.

  • Ensure that best practices are implemented within departments at the Company’s dealerships.

  • Work with the Recruiting Team and HR Services to recruit best available technicians.

  • Develop a career development curriculum for department employees.

  • Work with departments to implement best practices, tooling purchases and facility improvements.

  • Analyze reports from Operations Support Group to identify areas of financial opportunity, process improvement, and department profitability.

  • Identify and prioritize underperforming locations, require (written) action plans and tenacious follow up with validated execution.

  • Ensure latest service technology and adoption thereof to ensure efficiency and productivity.

  • Be creative in revenue generating initiatives and service lines (i.e. pre-packaged maintenance sales, shop takeovers, standardized menus, etc.).

  • Work with HR in building leadership bench strength and optimize technician recruiting.

Basic Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university preferred.

  • One to two years related experience and/or training.

  • Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier.
