Utilities Service, LLC Underground Utility Construction Laborer in Mesquite, Texas
We are currently seeking a Underground Utility Construction Laborer to join our team
Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00+ per hour. Based on experience.
Essential Functions:
Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come a long, jack hammer and hand line etc.).
Pull wire, install ground boxes and conduit.
Operate mini-excavator and skid steer
Performs all work from the ground.
Employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insects.
Working hours will extend into night and will exceed an eight-hour day.
Clears work area around structures.
Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.
Will perform other duties as assigned by Foreperson relating to traffic signal construction work.
Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.
May flag traffic and may be required to have training.
Works near energized parts or equipment.
Will be exposed to traffic.
Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, concrete saws and other equipment with proper hearing protection.
May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays for extended periods as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with concrete forming preferred.
Experience with underground utility construction preferred.
Additional pay for Class A CDL
Must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
Weather permitting, this is a minimum 40 - hour work week.
Must be able to wear necessary PPE.
Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.
Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
Must be able to traverse various terrains.
Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information in English.
Must be able to communicate with others.
Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 60 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.
Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
Must have transportation to and from the startup location.
Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed.
Must pass a background and/or MVR check.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
