We are currently seeking a Underground Utility Construction Laborer to join our team

Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00+ per hour. Based on experience.

Essential Functions:

• Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come a long, jack hammer and hand line etc.).

• Pull wire, install ground boxes and conduit.

• Operate mini-excavator and skid steer

• Performs all work from the ground.

• Employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments, poisonous plants or reptiles, and stinging insects.

• Working hours will extend into night and will exceed an eight-hour day.

• Clears work area around structures.

• Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate work to be performed.

• Will perform other duties as assigned by Foreperson relating to traffic signal construction work.

• Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the lineperson or apprentice.

• May flag traffic and may be required to have training.

• Works near energized parts or equipment.

• Will be exposed to traffic.

• Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, concrete saws and other equipment with proper hearing protection.

• May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays for extended periods as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience with concrete forming preferred.

• Experience with underground utility construction preferred.

• Additional pay for Class A CDL

• Must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.

• Weather permitting, this is a minimum 40 - hour work week.

• Must be able to wear necessary PPE.

• Must be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day.

• Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.

• Must be able to traverse various terrains.

• Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information in English.

• Must be able to communicate with others.

• Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 60 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 20 pounds on a frequent basis.

• Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day. Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.

• Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.

• Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.

• Must have transportation to and from the startup location.

• Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed.

• Must pass a background and/or MVR check.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
