Health Management Systems, Inc. Sr. Director, Account Management in Irving, Texas

The Sr. Director of Account Management is responsible for supporting Vice President with the overall service delivery and satisfaction of assigned commercial clients. Specific responsibilities include achieving revenue and margin goals, ensuring quality and timeliness of client deliverables, identifying and assisting with the development and execution of sales strategies, facilitating the growth of professional staff, building and enhancing client relationships, supporting and/or leading corporate initiatives, and driving the overall HMS agenda within assigned commercial clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively plans, develops, and manages full P&L for assigned book of business

  • Understands client’s business and demonstrates technical competence in HMS services and industry

  • Manages multiple complex contracts and associated revenue base

  • Understands the political and competitive landscape, and proactively protects and grows business accordingly

  • Builds strong relationships internally at HMS and externally with clients at various levels to facilitate integration and drive results

  • Adds value by identifying client expectations and then exceeding mutually agreed-upon objectives

  • Successfully attracts, manages, retains, and develops employees, including succession planning

  • Continually promotes HMS by developing further contacts within the business community and serving as an ambassador in the market

  • Proactively shapes needs and expansion opportunities to optimize client service.

  • Assists executive leadership in identifying and managing client risks

  • Assists in identifying partnerships that enhance HMS’ ability to enter new contracts and markets

Other Functions:

  • Performs other functions as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional client management and business development skills

  • Prepare and facilitate executive level presentations

  • Excellent management and direct supervisory experience in a team environment

  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet client needs

  • Ability to negotiate and collaborate at an executive level

  • Ability to understand broad, complex issues and to create effective strategies that benefit HMS and are aligned with short and long term goals

  • Maintain professional demeanor under stress

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data

  • Ability to manage relationships at all levels including senior executives and politicians

  • Ability to manage contract deliverables in a matrix-based environment

  • Handle highly confidential information in a strictly professional manner

Work Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary work in a general office environment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange information

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret documents and data

  • Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, and moving objects (up to 10 lbs.)

  • Requires manual dexterity to use computer, telephone and peripherals

  • May be required to work extended hours for special business needs

  • May be required to travel at least 10% of time based on business needs; at times on short notice

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required,

  • Masters degree (MBA or healthcare related) desired

Minimum Related Work Experience:

  • 10 years of large account management and business development experience required in one of the following areas :

  • Health insurance

  • Business consulting

  • Client service/business to business

  • Healthcare policy

  • Industry with high level of compliance (e.g., Finance)

  • Including 7 years’ experience directly managing staff

  • Prior experience successfully managing and growing a P&L of over $15M
