Our location in Irving, TX currently has an opportunity for an Software Test Engineer.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

Primary function is to test software for an automated IVD systems targeting the Transfusion Medicine laboratory segment. Participates in a team-oriented environment to develop requirements, design and execute testing for user interface, business rules, data management or embedded system control applications to ensure requirements and intended design are being met.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Software Integration and Verification Testing:

  • Review Feature Descriptions and provide input to ensure they are testable

  • Help assess use cases for features, requirements, or Problem Reports (PRS) based on practices and procedures for planning appropriate targeted and regression testing

  • Develop manual and automated protocols and acceptance criteria for features, requirements or PRS according to practices and procedures

  • Run feasibility and formal verification protocols for software features, requirement or PRS according to practices and procedures

  • Perform test case and test case run analysis to determine adequacy of testing, including coverage, boundary and regression analysis

  • Assess build readiness based on informal data gathering

  • Project Planning : Participates in project planning and updates; executes project plan; participates in defining project goals; develops timelines; comprehends resource requirements.

  • Lab Safety : Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety.

  • Documentation : Appropriately documents feasibility and formal software test procedures and results according to established guidelines.

Accountability/Scope:

  • Within project - contributes to the definition and timely achievement of goals.

  • Quality System – Responsible for maintaining of the effectiveness of the quality system by understanding and following FDA and ISO regulations, Abbott Quality management system documents

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • B.S. in medical technology, life sciences or engineering plus 5 years minimum related lab/industrial experience or M.S. in medical technology, life sciences or engineering with 2 years minimum relevant experience

  • Strong Computer skills.

  • Extensive knowledge of diagnostic or transfusion medicine instruments
