We are seeking a talented individual for a Director of Applications Development who provides leadership of IT application development teams responsible for the full development life cycle of business software, which includes design, development, unit/load testing, deployment and maintenance of a software system and implementation of business software for the enterprise.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plans, coordinates, and leads all activities related to the design, development and implementation of applications development and analysis function.

  • Provides leadership to multiple development teams.

  • Implements the direction and vision for IT application development life cycle and ensures the tools and staffing necessary to deliver business software.

  • Implements and maintains the necessary IT standards, metrics, SLA's and OLA's to deliver world class HMS IT services.

  • Provides direction for the development and utilization of human resources, collaborating with customers and the rest of IT to balance multiple production and project priorities.

  • Meets regularly with business leaders to listen, understand, address key issues, and educate them about HMS IT services, capabilities, and value.

  • Learns key business drivers and enforces the development of applications to meet those demands.

  • Ensures quality deliverables are created and maintained.

  • Manages the budget for assigned area.

  • Focuses on improving delivery time, operating efficiency while reducing

  • department cost.

  • Executes projects and initiatives.

  • Establishes and maintains strategic and effective relationships with customers.

  • Works closely with business and IT leadership to map and support operational needs.

  • Enforces and integrates best practices and technology practices and technology standards across the organization.

  • Manages staff locally, in distributed offices and via offshore partners.

  • Partners effectively across IT teams.

  • Requires manual dexterity to use computer, telephone and peripherals

  • May be required to work extended hours for special business needs

  • May be required to travel at least 40% of time based on business needs; at times on short notice

  • May be required to relocate based on business needs

Minimum Education:

  • MS/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field and/or equivalent experience required

Minimum Related Work Experience:

  • 10 years IT leadership experience in application design, software development, maintenance and delivery
