Verizon Database Security Analyst in Irving, Texas
What you’ll be doing...
Join our IT Application Security team where you will be working on a new program for real time monitoring of user behavior in databases.
You will research, design and engineer data protection strategies using IBM Guardium to ensure security, privacy, and integrity of critical data across a full range of open system platforms (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL). You will utilize in-depth technical/ project knowledge and business requirements to design secure solutions to prevent data leaks and automate Security Policy (CPNI-810) controls to protect Verizon's assets. You will lead large projects to onboard application databases across heterogeneous environments to IBM Guardium.
You will exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for uncovering internal and external risks. You will use Splunk analytics and develop user dashboards for forensic analysis for the collected data. You will provide direction and guidance to others in the group based on data security leveraging analytics to detect unusual data access patterns.
You will monitor and enforce security policies in real time for sensitive data access, privileged user actions, change control, application user activities and security exceptions. You will use Machine Learning methods to identify anomalous behavior by automatically comparing data activity to a normal behavior baseline. You will also support exception policies based on definable thresholds such as SQL errors. You will use extrusion policies to examine data leaving the database for specific value patterns such as credit card numbers. You will provide executive reporting showing threats and fraudulent activity.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience using IBM Guardium.
Experience with production IBM Guardium product deployments.
Experience working in UNIX, Linux, windows environments.
Even better if you have:
Master’s degree in Science in: Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics Business Intelligence, Data Science or CyberSecurity.
CISSP, CISM or other Security Certification.
Experience implementing and maintaining enterprise security solutions.
Experience working with Splunk or other open source analytical engines.
Experience developing Dashboards using Splunk and Grafana.
Experience with database environments such as Oracle, Informix, SQL Server, UDB/DB2, Informix, Mysql, Teradata and/or Sybase.
Experience with UNIX shell environments. UNIX scripting and Perl programming.
Experience with Java Scripting and XPath.
Knowledge of big data cloud architecture and environments.
Knowledge of enterprise application environment architecture.
Knowledge of relational databases.
Experience in security and project management.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
