As part of Citi’s Next Generation Network strategy, the team is now seeking to hire a software developer with strong Java / Python skills to work on new and highly visible Software-Defined Networking (SDN) initiatives, which have the aim of transforming the traditional methods of configuring network elements and the manner in which services are deployed over the network.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with new, often cutting edge, products to develop software-based solutions to fulfill the increasing demands from our internal customers to reduce manual effort, speed up time to market and improve the overall efficiency for the delivery of network-related technologies. The industry is in the early stages of a seismic shift towards software-defined and programmatic access to network infrastructure and this opportunity will see you at the forefront of Citi’s effort in this transformation.
This role reports to the Citi Data Center Solutions manager based in Dallas, TX.
o Working with our partners to analyze SDN use-case requirements
o Defining the tasks and time/effort estimates to develop SDN use-cases
o Ensuring high quality software development with complete documentation.
o Troubleshooting and resolution of application bugs
o Working with external vendors to ensure their software products are fit for purpose.
The ideal candidate will be / have:
o Hands on development experience in Java / Python (2+ years)
o Experience with Linux platforms (2+ years)
o Experience with SQL and other standard database query tools (2+ years)
o Experience working on software development projects (2+ years)
o Experience with data modelling languages such as YANG, XML and JSON (2+ years)
o Development experience in Python (advantageous but not essential)
o Knowledgeable in networking products and technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper and Arista (advantageous but not essential)
o Knowledgeable in SDN orchestration and controller architectures such as Cisco Network Services Orchestrator (Tail-f), Openstack and OpenDaylight (advantageous but not essential)
o A degree in a Computing, Mathematical, or Engineering discipline (preferred)
o Organizational, planning and time management skills
o Ability to work with multiple parallel deliverables
o Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
o Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
o Motivated and self-driven
