Balfour Beatty is currently undertaking the $200MM+ Northeast Water Purification Plant (NEWPP) Project in Humble, TX. Project completion is set for 2024. We are currently hiring for Laborers to join the team.
Under direct supervision in operations, loads and unloads materials, parts, or products manually or by mechanized means. Cleans around work areas, Assists other production workers in production activities. Handles special projects as assigned.
Must have own tools, such as work belt, hammer, tape measure and hand level.
Assist craftsman in applicable skills.
Learning any applicable craft; such as pipe fitting, equipment setting, bolting up equipment, etc.
Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and work with crew members effectively and operate a variety of hand power tools including drills, hammers, and other tools as directed by management.
Excellent safety rating.
Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. Team lifts are required on items over 50 pounds.
Must be able to work from heights.
Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Must be able to work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, hot, etc. required.
Enough clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively.
Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
Ability to perform tasks including physical labor as instructed by supervisor.
Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches.
Load and unload construction supplies around the worksite manually and with the use of equipment.
Flexible schedule to work days/nights and weekends (as needed) required.
High school diploma or educational equivalent.
2 years of verifiable experience working safely in or on industrial facilities and construction sites such as water treatment plants, power plants, and refineries is preferred but not required.
Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold/ladders required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs: may be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly.
Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods of time.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening before starting.
High-school Diploma or GED is preferred.
2 years of construction experience.
Experience operating basic construction equipment.
Follow all required safety rules, polices and guidelines.
Flexible schedule to work days/nights and weekends as needed.
