Oracle Senior PR Director in Houston, Texas

Development of communication programs to promote Oracle's products & services.

Direct all marketing activities within the context of the overall corporate plan for the achievement of short and long term business objectives, increased profit and market control. Be an active member of the global Marketing team to ensure consistency of marketing campaigns and messages. Disseminate key corporate information to the line-of-business and geography operations pertaining to new product development/launches. Act as a liaison with management to ensure that marketing activities are in support of sales plans. Direct marketing resources and budget to be deployed using the most appropriate marketing mix for the line-of-business and/or geography. Ensure consistency between global directions and single-geography and/or line-of-business implementation choices. Implement and monitor advertising campaigns on a line-of-business and/or geographical basis. Maintain necessary contact with major suppliers, agencies, customers, industry associations and government representatives to achieve marketing objectives. Provide effective performance management: set clear goals for all staff, provide regular feedback on performance and conduct a formal appraisal at the conclusion of the fiscal year. Manage the activities of the staff according to overall marketing strategies and budgets. Implement organizational changes in line with changing business & market needs.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Software business management experience. Sales and Marketing experience in the IT industry. E-business Internet practical know-how. Professional credentials in Marketing, Academic credentials desirable. Past experience in Sales desirable.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

Oracle is seeking a PR Director to be a key part of the technology product communications team. You will help manage programs and teams with the goal of strengthening Oracle’s position as a leader in Cloud, as well as broadening awareness and engagement with IT, developer, and business audiences.

We are seeking a self-starter with big ideas who is hungry to deliver award-winning work. The role spans a range of media (both earned and owned) activities, thought leadership and social programs to help build awareness for Oracle’s Technology portfolio – including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Database, Security, and Analytics.

Candidate should have a strong professional presence, exceptional writing and critical thinking skills, as well as experience leading integrated PR programs and thought leadership campaigns to reach IT, developer and business audiences. Strong ability to drive strategy and provide counsel to product leadership, as well as “roll up your sleeves” and execute.

Candidate should be results oriented, have a strong intellectual curiosity, be comfortable working within a matrixed organization and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A mix of agency and in-house experience is preferred. Strong track record of team management and mentorship required.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Set the communications strategy to support Oracle’s Tech business priorities (OCI, database, security, analytics, developer) with an objective to establish Oracle as a leader in Cloud, as well as broaden awareness and engagement with IT, developer and business audiences.

  • Provide expert counsel to the senior development executives across the tech portfolio

  • Combine traditional and social communications programs into a single cohesive approach to build credibility and demonstrate leadership.

  • Drive measurable results and collaboration across Product Communications, Corporate Communications, Industry and Customer Communications and Global Communications to ensure plans, narratives and content deliverables are used to maximum effect.

  • Assess and deliver robust multi-channel media and social customer engagement programs with a focus on content, placement, engagement and value.

  • Identify and help shape interactions with influencer communities by engaging with them with a dynamic flow of news, opinion, commentary and expertise.

  • Assist in crisis management and response plans for Oracle’s communications on issues relating to products and services within the Tech portfolio.

  • Direct and manage PR agency resources to create efficient successful integrated campaigns supporting priority audiences.

  • Given the highly dispersed team, strong virtual leadership, motivational skills and the ability to quickly explain clear directives are key.

Skills & Competencies

  • The candidate must demonstrate drive, initiative and critical thinking to be successful in this role.

  • We are seeking an outstanding professional with a minimum 10 years of experience. The ideal candidate brings a mix of leadership experience from both in-house corporate work and from a leading PR/communications agency.

  • Excellent strategic planning skills; a solid understanding of the technology industry; deep understanding of the business and technology media landscape and proven corporate communications and social media expertise.

  • Experience counselling senior management in a dynamic environment and a high degree of personal initiative, collaboration and written communication skills are key.
