DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Houston's Health Department is seeking talented professionals to work at COVID vaccination sites to perform the following duties:
Administers vaccines in the community to adults and children to improve immunization coverage rates throughout Houston and Harris county.
Conducts immunization education in the community to increase awareness of vaccine-preventable diseases throughout Houston and Harris County.
Participates in special projects, outreach events, quality improvement projects, organized by the Health Department, the Immunization Bureau of in collaboration with external partners to improve health in the community.
Participates in quality improvement activities including record reviews, chart audits, skills assessments, and competency evaluations.
Serves as clinical lead for community-based vaccine clinics.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or record boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing is preferred.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Texas. CPR certification is required. RN License and CPR certification must be maintained and current for continued employment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
No experience is required.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.

SALARY INFORMATION GRANT FUND POSITION
Grants & Special fund positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
