Description

A key role in the development of ABS' offshore market growth, the Proposals Manager is responsible for the development of commercial proposals for the Offshore Market Sector. The incumbant will ensure that the Company's offering meets the commercial and technical requirements outlined in the Customer bid specification and the proposal strategy. Additionally, he/she will ensure that the offering is presented in a clear and understandable manner that reflects minimal risk and/or financial exposure to the Company while maximizing profitability.

Job duties:

  • Review and interpret customer RFP and obtain clarifications from Business Development, Market Sectors, or Customer.

  • Develop, prepare and write proposal Summary. Edit and coordinate final manuscript maintaining consistency of style.

  • Prepare a detailed proposal work schedule, advising functional groups of actions to be followed in the proposal effort. Watchdog schedule milestones to ensure bid dates are met, and lead efforts to determine workarounds when problems occur.

  • Establish the format and general layout of the proposal, according to customer requirements and company standards.

  • Direct and monitor all proposal functions. Participate in functional department decision making which affects cost, performance, schedule, risk or scope; and ensure that the proposal strategy is followed.

  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of the proposal, including scope of work, technical discussion, performance data, organization and schedule.

  • Review, evaluate and consolidate the technical, commercial and legal exceptions and clarifications.

  • Coordinate management review and establishment of commercial terms.

  • Coordinate risk assessment and mitigation plans.

  • Participate with sales/BD to carry out the plan for securing the contract and advise on the technical and sales approach with the presentation of the proposal.

  • Monitor and control proposal costs and schedule milestones, provide additional direction and clarifications as required; review cost inputs to ensure reasonableness and validity.

  • Host meetings to establish final price; prepare priced proposal package; conduct reviews and briefings with management as required to obtain final approval and signature.

  • Interviews SME(s) and conducts research to produce accurate and comprehensive proposal responses and messaging.

  • Provides initial go-by write-ups/materials to SMEs, provides guidance to SMEs and others as appropriate, identifying known and potential issues with section responses.

  • Works with Marketing & Communications to develop compelling and strategic messaging / narrative and graphic visuals that support strategic messaging.

  • Manages final proofing/editing and alignment with Company brand standards.

  • Initiates and leads proposal meetings, including kickoffs, status updates and reviews.

  • Finalizes and submits proposal documents as appropriate.

  • Creates compelling post-bid presentation materials.

  • Develops and maintains best practices, procedures and templates.

  • Manages multiple pursuits concurrently while meeting quality standards and deadlines.

  • Supports and/or drives continuous improvement efforts across department including process improvement, development and customization of material by market and/or delivery method, etc.

Qualifications

Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing or an engineering-related discipline.

  • 10

or more years of overall progressive experience, culminating specifically to a proposal manager, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-volume proposal environment.

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe

  • Microsoft Dynamics: CRM, PowerBI

  • Expert knowledge of proposal process and best practices.

  • Exceptional persuasive writing capabilities, including ability to communicate complex ideas through organized and compelling messaging.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with ability to work well with colleagues and partners in a broad range of roles.

  • Self-motived, ability to multitask and deliver results within short deadlines.
