Manager, Joint Venture Accounting is responsible for managing the general financial aspects of matters impacting our 10 plus joint venture arrangements, and to oversee the Joint Venture Accounting group, which consists of five accounting professionals. The Joint Venture group is the primary point of contact acting to ensure the optimization of the financial performance of our joint venture activities and to proactively and retroactively respond to the needs of both our internal and external stakeholders. They are responsible for keeping accurate accounting and budgeting records, facilitating proper cash management procedures, maintaining positive business relationships with partners, and leveraging knowledge and experience to assist other departments as various requests or issues arise.
Primary contact for resolution of accounting issues for senior managers involved in directing affairs of joint venture investments. Includes offering strategic and tactical suggestions for negotiating contracts and resolving issues at the partner level.
Reviews potential partnership agreements to ensure that the negotiated terms are compliant with internal accounting policies, current regulatory reporting requirements and optimal cost allocation procedures
Manages the preparation of standalone joint venture capital and operating budgets
Manages the preparation and review of standalone joint venture financial statements for FERC and US GAAP reporting
Prepares management committee resolutions or equivalent for cash contributions from and distributions to partners.
Ensures that reporting obligations to partners, lenders and other stakeholders are met in a timely and accurate manner
These accountabilities are accomplished through interaction with partner financial representatives and all levels of Enbridge management – including commercial, business development, project management and legal groups
Facilitates employee development by:
Working with employees to establish goals and action plans
Providing guidance on career planning and development
Preparing annual performance reviews and ongoing feedback
Bachelor degree required in Accounting or Finance
10 years or equivalent of related experience
Supervisory experience preferred
Demonstrated decision-making and leadership skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization
Excellent organization, planning, and analytical skills
High degree of initiative, personal responsibility and integrity
Results oriented with sound business judgment
Open, honest and consistent approach dealing with people
CPA preferred, but not required
