Job Description

The Company’s Industrial division provides environmental services to its customer base. As a key member of the Industrial Services team, the Industrial Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of trucking operations at an assigned site. The Industrial Transportation Manager oversees financial performance; provides top customer service to both internal and external clients; leads the team at the assigned site; and ensures compliance with all DOT, health and safety, and environmental regulations.

Principal Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Plans, directs, and leads day-to-day activities in alignment with the Company's' mission, vision, values, and operating policies & strategies.

  • Ensures DOT compliance is maintained for all drivers.

  • Provides technical and operations support to all staff.

  • Creates and maintains reporting systems for ongoing operational issues including trends, solutions, incident/accidents, and variances from budget and or the business plan.

  • Determines requirements necessary to optimize operations, measures and reports results, and creates and implements projects at facilities to improve efficiencies.

People Leadership

  • Directs, leads, and guides the operations team in fostering a work environment where employees are productive, compliant, and safe.

  • Promotes driver excellence and ensures career development and advancement opportunities exist.

  • Fosters an achievement-oriented culture where employees are motivated and rewarded for both individual and team contributions.

  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments as needed to improve problem solving.

  • Works with Human Resources to provide the leadership for the business unit in matters relating to hiring, training, development, discipline, termination, and wage and salary scales.

Health & Safety

  • Schedules and leads regular safety meetings.

  • Works with facility staff to ensure health and safety standards are adhered to and supports random safety audits.

  • Ensures health and safety audit trails are maintained for compliance purposes.

  • Ensures employees maintain accurate and detailed reporting.

Environment and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensures full compliance with applicable approvals for the operation.

  • Ensures environmental and regulatory audit trails are maintained for tracking and compliance purposes.

  • Ensures prompt reporting for any non-compliance events and gains clarification from environmental and regulatory advisors, as needed.

  • Ensures accurate external and internal reporting.

Customer Service

  • Ensures the business unit and its services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image.

  • Instills a passion for customer service and the “customer experience.”

  • Works closely with Field Sales to ensure that client needs are being met on a regular basis.

  • Utilizes a consultative sales approach to determine client needs and how the Company can further its service offering to better meet these needs; understands business drivers of the site/area.

  • Assists the business development team and General Manager with new ideas for growth and recommends continuous improvement projects to support business unit operations and development.

General Responsibilities

  • Travels as dictated by business needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Required.)

  • Valid Driver’s License. (Required.)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a trucking or dispatch management role. (Required.)

  • Health and safety experience. (Required.)

  • Environmental and regulatory experience. (Required.)

  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements. (Required.)

  • Strong knowledge of tractor-trailer operations and equipment safety. (Required.)

  • “Work Safe” history. (Required.)

  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial or environmental service company experience, specifically in industry-related trucking operations (roll-off, frac, vac, hot oil and/or propane).

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Sales and marketing knowledge.
