The Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase productivity, and ultimately change the world. The M&SA EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales. Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.

Location/Division Specific Information

Remote - ideally seated in OR, CA, TX or AZ - Travel approximately 50%

How will you make an impact?

The Service Sales Manager supports the Science Support Operation by taking ownership of the sale of service solutions within North America and ensures timely, profitable and value-based service products are in place to cover the installed base of Thermo Fisher electron microscopes.

What will you do?

The Service Sales Manager will partner with the Product Account Managers to sell service in conjunction with new equipment sales. The Service Sales Manager will lead sales directly for the value-based service portfolio for post-warranty conversions as well as annual contract renewals. The Service Sales manager will also work closely with the Regional Service Managers and Service Administrative team to ensure systematic coverage of all sales and renewal opportunities.

Managing the Service Sales process to ensure the timely and profitable sale of Service Solutions within the regional installed base. The Service Sales Manager's performance will be measured on the total contract sales volume, contract penetration, contract profitability as well as adoption of value-based services.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Service Sales process from initial customer contact through to regular, sustainable service contract support for the lifetime of the product.

  • Work closely with the Regional Service manager to ensure maximum and growing Contract Sales Revenue and Margin.

  • Partner with Service Marketing to ensure effective product offerings and sales tools.

  • Operate as the service sales coach for the region and will assist the entire team with using effective sales approaches

  • Become the main contact and reference expert for the Service Sales function within the Sales and Service Division.

  • Partner and liaise with internal and external stakeholders on Service Sales issues and development.

  • Report on the Service Sales metrics and targets within the team on all appropriate occasions and meetings.

How will you get here?

Education

  • BS in Life Sciences or related field - required. Masters - preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of (Service) Sales experience in high tech / capital intensive industries

  • Majority of experience in sales of service contracts and/or in products where the service component was a major aspect of the total value proposition

  • 5+ years of customer service/advocacy experience, preferably in high-tech

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated track record of collaboration within a complex organization

  • Excellent sales, negotiation and communication skills; Must have a professional working proficiency in English

  • Experience presenting to high level corporate buyers and/or Academic customers

  • Excellent team player that can also work independently

  • Strong communication and inter-cultural skills
