Amec Foster Wheeler Engineer - Rotating Equipment in Houston, Texas

Wood is currently recruiting for an Engineer - Rotating Equipment, with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical inustry. Successful candidate must be local to the Deer Park and Bayport, TX areas (there is no relocation assistance or per diem offered).

Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required

Description / Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed the company and customer safety standards

  • Manage all mechanical and rotating equipment engineering activities

  • Review and approve EPC Contractors’ or consultants’ mechanical design

  • Serve as a technical resource with the pump shop team

  • Support critical repairs and provide updates to the maintenance and operations teams

  • Support production units with troubleshooting and technical support for rotating equipment and related systems

  • Drive equipment reliability initiatives including asset health, bad actor action items, and top threat actions

  • Recommend engineering work processes and procedures based on best practices

  • Lead failure analysis to develop action plans around failures

  • Prepare reports, correspondence, procedures, specifications, and technical calculations

  • Prepare technical data and papers for sales personnel, customers and publications using good presentation and report writing skills

  • Participate in customer meetings

  • Perform duties as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in rotating equipment for plant

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • A Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical preferred)

  • 5-10 years of related rotating equipment experience (ANSI pumps, API pumps, agitators, compressors, blowers, conveyors)

  • Executes failure analysis

  • Drives reliability KPI’s and bad actor lists

  • Experience with various pump and seal designs

  • Understanding of common failure modes regarding rotating equipment

  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards and specifications, engineering and construction practices Knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of engineering and knowledge of competing and alternative design techniques

Additional Desired Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience with executing RCM events (criticality assessment, FMEA’s, etc.)

  • Experience with utilizing various RCA tools (ThinkReliability, Apollo, etc.)

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing

  • Experience with SAP, Meridium and other related equipment software
