Job Profile Summary:
The Energy Supply and Low Carbon Solutions Specialist sits in bp's Trading and Shipping business. Working within our Power (Trading and Origination) team, this role is crucial for us and our ability to deliver our low carbon agenda. As a solutions specialist, you will be a technical expert for Trading and Shipping (T&S), responsible for developing strategies to support the energy needs for the group with a key focus on reducing costs and providing clean energy supply options in both the regulated and deregulated markets in the US. You'll be working closely with the global teams on a broader strategy for the energy needs of various bp businesses.

In this role, you will coordinate the development, value discovery, opportunity advancement and execution for energy supply transactions. There will be an immediate focus on supporting existing bp businesses in deregulated markets, particularly through traditional energy supply options. You will also collaborate within bp to develop alternative energy supply options (including onsite generation and energy/efficiency services).
Support the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy for incremental savings and low carbon solutions for our internal energy and utilities requirements
Analyze trends and regulations to proactively identify opportunities
Develop strategies to capture market movement to identify cost savings opportunities
Assist on critical strategies as we develop and execute on our low carbon agenda.
Work collaboratively to facilitate energy transactions; develop plans and objectives to ensure commitments are met and delivering against cost savings goals
Work collaboratively with utility procurement/category managers to execute electrical supply contracts.
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry – preferably in a commercial role
2+ years of developing supply solutions or programs in US energy markets
Proven commercial acumen with ability to identify opportunities and deliver results.
Demonstrated experience at developing and implementing effective strategies for the energy needs and low carbon solutions of an organization.
Skilled application in:
Cost savings planning - including ability to provide monetary value through effective solutions.
Low Carbon / Sustainability solutions project management. Experience in implementing solutions to address sustainability and or low carbon power needs, including familiarity with energy supply (wholesale and retail), renewable credit programs and energy efficiency solutions.
Proven ability to evaluate new energy markets, utility tariffs, policies, power contracts, or new energy sourcing opportunities.
Familiarity with renewable credit programs, renewable project development, power forecasting and scheduling, portfolio management theory, advanced energy storage, or alternative energy resources
Strong project management skills and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, or customers.
Ideally 8+ years of experience with commodity markets, strategic implementation, energy supply and procurement, sustainability program management, energy trading operations, utility regulations and energy efficiency technologies.
Sustainability program management, including understanding strategic vision and alignment of practical low carbon solutions.
Experience negotiating retail power contracts is a major advantage.
Understanding of regulatory fundamentals for power markets - particularly end use customer segment.
Technical expertise in relation to energy as a service technologies (EaaS) including industrial and digital efficiency solutions for petroleum or chemical industries.
