The Regional Business Director (RBD), Rheumatology will be responsible for hiring, leading, developing and retaining the Rheumatology field team in assigned district, including Product Specialists, Rheumatology. The RBD is responsible for ensuring strong and consistent sales performance that exceeds forecast and expectations relating to product goals and driving accountability for all results throughout the Rheumatology region assigned. The RBD will work closely with their Alliance partner counterpart(s). The RBD will work closely with Commercial Training and Development to insure appropriate development of personnel within the district designed to continue to facilitate growth in the commercial organization. The RBD will accomplish this in a compliant manner with a high degree of integrity strictly following all Sanofi policies and in compliance with all policies and procedures governing the promotion of pharmaceutical and biologic products in the US.

Responsibilities:

• Leading a team of sales professionals responsible for driving sales of Sanofi products

• Responsible for developing district business plan and ensuring it is being executed by the sales professionals within the district

• Teaching, training and coaching sales professionals regarding product and disease state knowledge

• Responsible for people development, performance management and mid-year and year-end job performance reviews for team members

• Responsible for recruiting and staffing sales professional positions within the district

• Responsible for assuring compliance with the road safety program for drivers under their supervision, including assessing employee’s driving performance and working with drivers to improve performance where needed

• Develop a deep understanding of key market drivers, business dynamics, and provide insights to your broad cross-functional team

• Effectively allocate and manage resources across the district.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree mandatory, preferred science. Master’s degree or other advanced education /certification is a plus.

  • Minimum of 10 years pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical experience sub-cutaneous self-injectable biologic experience with 3 years of sales leadership/management in office-based Rheumatology sales, strongly preferred. Other markets, such as Psoriasis or other Immunology disorders will be considered

  • Successful record of hiring, coaching, developing, promoting, and retaining top talent within span of control

  • Proven success and positive track record of performance with a high degree of integrity as a sales leader in complex markets within complex systems required

  • Strong understanding of Payer environment, reimbursement and challenges within National, Regional and local payer market including; specialty pharmacy, government programs, managed health care and evolving healthcare systems

  • Proven ability and success in developing physician/customer clinical experts in a regional scope required

  • Ability to travel extensively with local and regional influence
