JOB SUMMARY

The Analyst, Sales & Use Tax will support quality taxcompliance, tax planning, and accounting services in accordance with Textron’sfiduciary processes, policies, and procedures. The Analyst, Sales &Use Tax will prepare and file sales & use tax returns, prepare GL account reconciliations/analysis,process parked invoices and vendor exemptions certificates, file businesslicenses and participate on other special projects as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and file sales & use tax returns of varying degrees of complexity

  • Prepare GL account reconciliations/analyses and journal entries

  • Process required tax payment requests and ensure all payments are remitted to tax authorities by the required due dates

  • Manage and update the sales & use tax calendar

  • Respond to notices and document requests from state and local tax authorities

  • Assist with external sales & use tax audits as assigned

  • Assist with special projects / Business Unit requests as assigned

  • Analyze and resolve parked AP invoices

  • Provide exemption certificates to vendors upon request

  • File business licenses

  • Protect and maintain the privacy of employee personnel records including, but not limited to, personal and compensation information about employees.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance/Accounting or 5 years’ sales and use tax compliance experience within a large national or multi-national company

  • Three years’ sales and use tax compliance experience, preferred

  • Experience working in a regional shared service center a plus

  • IPT CMI designation preferred

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Taxsolver, SAP, ALFA, Lawson, AS400-JBA, Trans4M, Co-op, Taxware, Vertex, Hyland), preferred

  • Ability to clearly write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and vendors

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral, or diagram form

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability and willingness to work evenings or weekends when necessary to meet project deadlines
