WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Vehicle Engineering Manager for our Dallas, Texas office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management of technical staff and vehicle delivery team
Project Management of rail vehicle procurements
Responsible for the oversight of the design, manufacturing, delivery, testing and commissioning vehicles
Responsible for managing interface between client and railcar builder
Ability to assess client equipment and their operating needs
Responsible for the preparation of technical and managerial reports as requested by the client
Responsible for the preparation of progress reports
Ability to manage the process of developing Technical Specification documents
Assessment of mechanical systems located on a rail vehicle and associated maintenance needs for those systems
Review design submittals and prepare detailed descriptions of review findings
Participate in formal design review meetings and technical working sessions
Perform billable work and other tasks as assigned as best fit training and ability

Bachelor’s degree in a related field
15 years’ experience in a rail and transit related field
Prior experience of a railcar procurement with focus on delivery and acceptance of railcar fleet
Strong project delivery team leadership skill set
Knowledge of and experience with the systems associated with rail vehicles.
Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a logical and orderly manner
Knowledge of and experience with rail vehicle technologies
Good communication and writing skills
The ability to work in a disciplined manner with little supervision
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Advanced degree in Engineering
This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
