Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with installation, operation, maintenance and repair of underground electrical power lines for street lights and traffic signal systems.

  • Primary function is helping and supervising the crew while work is being performed.

  • Directs the crew members on specific job tasks.

  • Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.

  • Follows and enforces safety practices.

  • Operates the equipment used in excavating, backfilling, lifting, and other construction tasks

  • Assists with power outages and electrical problems.

  • Assists with ground work.

  • Works near energized parts or equipment.

  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Performs all aspects of electrical work constructing and maintaining roadway lighting and traffic signal electrical systems in assigned area. Knowledgeable and highly skilled in all aspects of electrical work.

  • Must be able to terminate secondary pedestals, and meter boxes.

  • Must be able to identify the hazards on the job.

  • Must have cognition to solve problems.

  • Must be able to read and follow prints.

  • Must be able to follow directions, work safely and productively.

  • Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight (8) or ten (10) hour day according to the schedule.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s license. Class A CDL preferred.

  • TRF 450 certification preferred

  • Must pass a background check and pass a motor vehicle records check.

  • Due to the inherently hazardous nature of the industry and the requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to wear necessary PPE as required by company policy

  • Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis, and up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis.

  • Must be willing to travel within the State of Texas as needed.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
