Job Summary:

Provide direction to E&I engineering contractors and professionals who are responsible for all aspects of the reliability, maintenance, production, quality, safety and improvement initiatives for the Company. The Senior Manager and team will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and modifying PLC and HMI hardware, software, and associated control system hardware, as well as providing support to optimize current control systems and enhance future control system capabilities. The Senior Manager will act as a subject matter expert, developing and enforcing company standards and control room management compliance requirements. SCADA management, process automation, electrical & instrumentation engineering, single-line electrical drawing development, cause-and-effect design, functional specifications, and alarm management will fall under the Senior Manager’s core responsibilities.

Description & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Instrument and Electrical issues for capital growth and operations derived projects, lead development of project scope, budget, and schedule requirements.

  • Work with Engineers and Operations to develop and execute projects that follow: engineering standards, code compliance, proper company and safety standards, and good engineering practices.

  • Assist in I/E scope development and up-front engineering efforts in order to specify and procure equipment to meet related process and project conditions.

  • Coordinate with company operations personnel, as well as outside vendors and provide oversite for contractors during project execution and implementation.

  • Coordinate and develop control networks and strategies, programming (PLC/DCS), and communications (Modbus, HART, etc.) of new and modified systems into existing systems.

  • Develop, update, and maintain functional specifications for projects and area facilities (P&ID’s, Cause & Effects, Electrical One-Lines, other I/E equipment documentation, etc.).

  • Take part in PSM, HazOp, and other activities for area facilities involving project development and implementation (design reviews, PHA’s, MOC’s, operations and maintenance training, etc.).

  • Work with operations and maintenance personnel to help improve facility operations and efficiencies via process controls improvements and troubleshooting. Provide troubleshooting support for I/E related equipment for both existing equipment as well as new installations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

  • 10+ years experience in an electrical engineering, instrumentation, or control systems role, primarily with a midstream liquids pipeline operator.

  • 5+ years proven experience with Rockwell Automation software such as RSLogix 5, 500, 5000, and Wonderware HMI/SCADA applications in midstream projects.

  • 5+ years proven experience with A-B PLC’s (PLC 5, SLC 500, CompactLogix, ControlLogix) and VFDs (Powerflex) in midstream projects.

  • Familiar with pump stations, meter skids, LACT units, and equipment such as flow computers (OMNIs and SpiritIT), and motor protection relays (Multilin)

  • Proficient in 3rd party communication protocols such as Modbus, IEC61850

  • Knowledge and understanding of most general types of instrumentation used in the oil and gas industry (level/temperature/pressure transmitters, flow meters, flow computers, analyzers, control valves, ESD systems, fire and gas detection, etc.).

  • Experience with Wonderware SCADA, networking, and architecture is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of 480VAC and 24VDC electrical power systems including transformers, motor controls, NEC requirements, etc.

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a larger Team environment.

  • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen subject matter knowledge base and proficiencies, and share knowledge with others.

  • Able to carry a company cell phone and be available 24/7 for emergency assistance.

  • Able to travel up to 50% away from home office location
