Berry Appleman & Leiden QA Automation Engineer in Dallas, Texas

The QA Automation Engineer is responsible for automating manual test scripts within a highly robust, maintainable and efficient testing framework. The incumbent will create, maintain, and operate the test automation framework in our Agile environment. The QA Automation Engineer will be able to analyze our applications and develop the testing assets required for robust and effective automated tests used for regression and deployment validation. The QA Automation Engineer will also research and advise on new and alternative tools, technologies and test automation approaches to guide us moving forward as we rapidly evolve and grow our technology team.

  • Develop tools and scripts that perform the automatic validation of a sophisticated global mobility and immigration platform.

  • Work with our Agile teams to develop and maintain cutting edge test suites for BAL’s industry-leading digital platform. The suites will provide the trust and operational efficiency necessary to allow BAL to achieve a true continuous delivery platform.

  • Perform manual testing as necessary.

  • Lead and train other test engineers in methodology, theory, and approaches used for all forms of testing.

  • Develop innovative new solutions to solve emerging problems in the Immigration and Global Mobility industry.

  • Actively participate in and encourage a data-driven culture to improve the efficiency, scalability, stability and security of business applications.

Minimum Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.


  • 5+ years of software development experience, with 2 or more years focused solely on developing test automation solutions.

  • Extensive knowledge of quality assurance and quality control.

  • Experience developing automated tests that integrate into existing testing frameworks or with new scalable and reusable testing frameworks.

  • Experience with object oriented programming languages and techniques.

  • Experience using CI tools, including test automation covering Unit Testing, acceptance testing, integration testing, static code analysis.

  • Experience with TFS and other version control software.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Expertise on the following tools and technologies: Selenium, C#, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and TFS.

  • Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies, and tools such as Rally or Jira.

  • Design and maintain automated testing solutions, especially web-based applications, web services and APIs.

  • Familiar with performance, load and stress testing.

  • Ability to make sound judgment calls.

  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision and be a self-starter seeing things through completion.

  • Ability to catch errors and correct the work of others.

  • Superior communication skills.

  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across teams, functional groups and divisions.

  • Ability to prioritize and to meet deadlines and goals.
