Baylor Scott & White Health PCT/HUC Transplant BUMC FT Days in Dallas, Texas

The Health Unit Coordinator performs clerical duties and coordinates communication of a unit to support patient care activities. The Health Unit Coordinator consistently interacts appropriately with all ages and also serves as an information resource to patients, staff and the public. Responsibilities of the Health Unit Coordinator role includes, is not limited to, the following:

  • Initiates, assembles and maintains patient chart/kardex in accordance with established procedures.

  • Files reports and test results correctly and in a timely manner.

  • Accurately and promptly transcribes physician orders.

  • Processes ordered tests, medications, procedures and appointments appropriately and coordinates appropriate transportation.

  • Answers the telephone promptly and courteously.

  • Manages the patient call system in a timely, courteous and professional manner.

The ideal Health Unit Coordinator candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment coordinating multiple activities in a professional and timely manner.
