Texas Health Organization for Physicians seeks to hire a Coder I CPC/CCS-P to work Full Time Days in the Coding and Reimbursement Department.
The address is Northpoint III 9250 Amberton Parkway, Dallas, TX 75243
Remote work temporarily, will resume working in office in the future.
Salary range is Min: $20.73/hour to Max: $31.31/hour – based on relevant experience.
Work Hours/Schedule
Full Time; 40 hours/week
Monday – Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm; Flexible start times based on business needs

Job Description
Responsible for abstracting and assigning valid CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes to ensure appropriate reimbursement in accordance with federal, state, and private health plans as well as organization and regulatory guidance. This role is typically responsible for less complex coding with oversight.
Accurately abstracts information from the medical records and assigns ICD-9/10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS level II codes in compliance with established guidelines. Provides codes to various departments upon request.
Reviews supporting medical record documentation to ensure accurate code assignment (ICD, CPT, HCPCS) of professional charges in compliance with third party payer, NCCI guidelines and THPG policies. Maintains documentation to record/track coding variance. Performs charge reconciliation.
Compares hospital charges posted against procedures coded and identifies any discrepancies. Notifies leadership of any discrepancies and collaborated to rectify the same.
Participates in special projects and completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required and
Associates Degree in related field preferred
2 years of Coding experience preferred
Completion of college level courses in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, or similar preferred
2 years of professional E&M coding experience requried.
Licenses and Certifications:
CPC - Certified Professional Coder upon hire required or
CCS-P - Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based required upon hire
Skills
General understanding of health insurance.
Knowledge of third party billing regulations, professional operations, and third party payer requirements.
Must be able communicate effectively.
Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
Must processes a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
Must have proficient computer skills, with the ability to learn internal application systems.
