In this position, you will execute leveraged finance transactions in support of private equity buyouts. In turn, as your network expands, you will assist in sourcing deal flow from equity sponsors, M&A investment banking, and lender relationships.

Business Group Overview

BBVA Sponsor Coverage provides cash flow senior debt to private equity sponsored, middle market companies with valuations typically in the $50MM to $500MM range. We focus on building long term relationships with sponsors that have committed capital, a strong track record, and strategic and operational expertise. It is an established yet growing national strategy, headquartered in Dallas, that is capable of transacting within a wide variety of industries.


  • Involvement in all aspects of the financing process, including due diligence, cash flow modeling, independent research, credit assessment, credit approval, and legal documentation.

  • Develop relationships with private equity sponsors and promote the BBVA leveraged finance platform; proactively generate new business opportunities as appropriate.

  • Work closely with private equity sponsors, management teams, investment bankers, syndicate desks, and legal counsel.

  • Portfolio management of transactions, including financial performance, amendment requests, and upsizes.

  • There is an opportunity for increased responsibility, including origination, as your deal experience develops.



  • 2 - 4 years of experience in leveraged finance or investment banking.

  • Proficiency with financial cash flow modeling.

  • Solid analytical and credit skills including the ability to independently interpret analytical data.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the demonstrated aptitude to articulate a deal clearly and concisely.

  • Strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and self-starter.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-pace environment with attention to detail.

  • Aptitude for learning legal documentation necessary for leveraged loans and LBOs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business.
