Buckner International Assistant Director of Marketing in Dallas, Texas

BASIC FUNCTION:

Manage all marketing functions required for recruiting for foster care and adoption programs across the Buckner system. Provide marketing coordination and leadership in developing new recruitment strategies to find qualified foster and adoptive families. Additionally, oversee Buckner advertising.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

Lead development and execution of strategies related to foster care and adoption recruitment at Buckner, based on needs identified by foster care and adoption staff and in alignment with the annual foster care and adoption marketing and recruitment plan. Inform Director of Marketing on changes in policy, programmatic structure, and growth needs surrounding Buckner’s foster care and adoption efforts, recommending strategies to fill identified gaps. Consult with Buckner staff system-wide regarding foster and adoptive family recruitment activities and provide direction for adjusting marketing strategies accordingly. Manage intake and track foster care and adoption inquiries via calls and email; respond to families interested in adoption, foster care, respite care, and other child placing activities through Buckner; and coordinate with appropriate Buckner staff. Maintain a current database of families who have inquired about our services. Develop and conduct satisfaction surveys for prospective and current foster and adoptive families. Measure, track and report on the effectiveness of marketing strategies, identify gaps in the inquiry process and develop new processes and strategies to close the gap. Coordinate with local Buckner staff on timely story angles to be pitched to local media outlets in assigned markets. Develop content in partnership with social media marketing coordinator for the Buckner Foster Care and Adoption Facebook page. Coordinate and supply up-to-date foster care and adoption content for the Buckner website. Identify and write stories and content on foster and adoptive families and coordinate with Buckner Public Relations and Buckner Media Relations for placement in Buckner Today magazine, the Buckner blog and Buckner e-newsletter. Equip local Buckner Child and Family Services offices and Church Engagement staff to educate and connect churches interested in child placing ministry opportunities. Manage marketing projects with Buckner Public Relations and serve as point person on messaging and materials associated with recruitment needs. Direct and implement continuous improvement for foster care and adoption information meetings, including reporting on attendance at meetings and retaining families as it relates to foster care and adoption recruitment. Maintain current summary statistics on inquiries and the profile of the typical foster family, adoptive family, etc. Actively engage with Buckner regional child-placing staff and support efforts to plan, create, and report strategies. Coordinate Buckner’s involvement with external organizations related to foster care and adoption as it relates to marketing potential. Coordinate foster care and adoption staff professional writing for internal and external use. Lead in coordinating and developing advertising for Buckner International, including ad creation and placement. Act as a liaison to community: supporting and representing Buckner at special events, activities, and other assigned functions; speaking in public on behalf of Buckner and coordinating special event planning with event team. Maintain compliance with all Buckner policies, procedures and requirements. Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements. Work successfully as part of a team and responsible for developing then maintaining strong working relationships with co-workers. Attend and participate in staff meetings and training as required. Facilitate meetings and trainings as appropriate with both internal and external constituents. Travel as needed to meet business needs. Perform general office tasks as required. Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required. POSITION EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:

Requires in-depth knowledge and experience of the field of marketing and communications and knowledge of foster care and adoption programs. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or other related field required. Minimum 5-7 years prior related experience preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel applications, Word and Power Point. Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English. Intermediate proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Requires a strong sense of diplomacy and demonstrated success in developing strong collaborative relationships with organizational peers and outside colleagues. Requires ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings. Requires recognized ability to meet multiple deadlines by maintaining a high level of organization. Requires demonstrated strong analytical skills, including an ability to synthesize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue; strong commitment to producing measurable results. Requires ability to travel to various geographic locations, both domestic and international, with some overnight stays. Requires ability to obtain and maintain the necessary documentation to travel internationally. Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Requires ability to rent vehicles both domestically and internationally using required documentation. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner. Requires ability to maintain confidentiality. Requires proficient ability to exhibit detail-oriented skills necessary to understand and manage a wide-range of information. Requires ability to provide strategic and logistical planning and facilitate meetings, conferences, workshops, and retreats as required. Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, required. Requires professional commitment to Christian principles and teachings so as to perform tasks and responsibilities in alignment with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values. Requires ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 pounds continuously to move objects. Requires ability to walk frequently; occasionally stand for prolonged periods of time; occasionally required to squat, climb stairs, kneel and twist. Required to sit for prolonged periods of time, including airline travel. Requires ability to speak clearly and make self understood in face-to face interactions; to articulate with extreme accuracy and precisions to give directions speak on the phone, etc. Requires ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, trustees, vendors, residents, families, agency representatives, etc. Requires ability to effectively work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and speak in front of groups.
