The Electronic Technician tests, troubleshoots, analyzes and corrects malfunctions of complex electronics or electro-mechanical products.
In the role of Electrical Technical Advisor, you will:
Interpret technical drawings, procedures and specifications
Clean, prepare and assemble components per instructions on the applicable drawing/procedure
Ensure product quality and the conformance to the established quality assurance system
Interact with internal and external customers as needed
Recommend changes in circuitry or components to improve operation and maintenance
Test down hole and surface equipment systems to engineering and customer specifications
Test and repair of electronic circuits, boards and sub-assemblies of down hole and surface equipment in RMA return repair status with established quality processes, standards and safety regulations
Create appropriate documentation as needed
Support all team repair operations, RMA dispositions and NCR dispositions
Provide customers with timely repair turnaround
Ability to safely deploy to remote geographic assignment locations – onshore and offshore locations with limited access to medical care, which may require 4 hours (or more) travel time to reach secondary level medical care Qualifications/Requirements:
Associate's degree in Electronics Engineering or Electronics Technology from an accredited college or university (OR High School diploma/GED from an accredited school or institution and a Minimum of 6 years of experience as an electronics technician)
Minimum 2 years of experience as an electronics technician
Minimum 1year of soldering experience, IPC610 backgroundEligibility Requirements:
Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Undergo Periodic fitness for duty tests, examinations, and/or certifications will be required for onshore/offshore remote location assignments Desired Characteristics:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision
Ability to read and interpret drawings, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions and safety rules
Demonstrate high-level mechanical abilities
Demonstrate creativity that would lead to improved operation and maintenance procedures would be highly desirable
Familiarity with GE MWD / LWD Drilling tools
Familiarity and operation of a personal computer using various programs and MS Office
Ability to troubleshoot and solve electronic or mechanical problems unassisted where objectives are clearly defined but courses of action must be considered and determined
Ability to read schematics and board layouts for assemblies, familiarity of electronic components, ability to use test equipment (oscilloscope, DVM, etc.), soldering equipment and hand tools Locations: United States; Texas; ConroeGE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
