Montgomery County Hospital District Communication Technician in Conroe, Texas

Title: COMMUNICATION TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY

Perform assigned project work within the Radio/Towers department. Performs skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification and testing of communications equipment. All work is performed in accordance with the rules and regulations of the FCC, FAA, TIA and other regulatory entities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Organize and maintain an up to date inventory of all capital assets using radio shop software

  • Perform BDA/DAS testing in accordance with IFC 510

  • Configure and maintain district mass notification system

  • Perform moves, adds, and changes to VOIP phones

  • Assist maintaining district VOIP phone system

  • Assist with various integrations to USDD alerting systems

  • Coordinates and tracks the inspections and preventive maintenance of communication infrastructure.

  • Document procedures and processes for the deployment of emergency communications and power generating equipment

  • Document all maintenance, inspections and preventive maintenance of VHF communication infrastructure

  • Documents internal procedures and processes.

  • Assist with programming mobile and portable radio equipment

  • Assist with installation and maintenance of station alerting systems including amplifiers, speakers, decoders and radios

  • Performs related work as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities at this time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE

  • Moderate word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills required.

  • Basic Email and internet skills required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Current Texas Driver's License.

  • Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.

  • APCO certification a plus, but not required.
