Job Description

This is a Research Assistant Temporary Position for Dr. Sabat's Laboratory in Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University.

Duties are specifically related to research activities, require an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Interviewing, coordinating, and managing undergraduate research assistants

  • Creating and administering surveys

  • Scheduling undergraduate research participants

  • Conducting literature reviews and helping formulate new study ideas

  • Submitting IRB applications

  • Assisting with data analysis

  • Writing, editing, and submitting manuscripts and grants

  • Purchasing materials for the lab

  • Coordinating travel plans

  • Related duties as required

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or related field (completed by Summer 2018) or equivalent combination of education and years of experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Required Other Factors:

  • This position will be a temporary position for the month of August working approximately 40 hours a week and not eligible for benefits.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology

  • Basic SPSS skills

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Apps effectively

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • CITI Human Subjects Research (HSR) Training

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Interest in studying research related to diversity and organizational psychology

  • Ability to effectively communicate with undergraduate research assistants, graduate students, and faculty supervisor

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Interviewing, coordinating, and managing undergraduate research assistants

  • Assisting with data analysis

  • Submitting IRB applications

  • Purchasing and Performs other duties as assigned.
