Job Description

The UC Events Worker is responsible for the set-up and other preparations for meetings and conferences at University Center Complex and other areas.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of experience in meeting and conference set-up and related customer service.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to lift and move heavy equipment.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Required Licenses, Certifications and Registrations:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Texas class “C” driver license within 30 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able and willing to work evenings, weekends and special events. Main hours of work are 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs setup and breakdown of various types of meetings (workshop, conferences, lectures, lunches, dinners and other special events). This includes lifting tables and chairs, bending and reaching above shoulders, loading/unloading and stacking tables and chairs and pushing carts of tables and chairs.

  • This work takes place indoors and outdoors. Supervises student workers as needed throughout the work day. This will require operation of a University or other motor vehicle.

  • Provide excellent customer service to our clients, guests, and tenants who occupy the facilities that make up the University Center Complex.

  • Be present 15 minutes prior to the start of events to unlock the rooms and check with the client on the proper setup of the space. Try to answer or find the answer to any questions the client might have.

  • Responsible for inspection of buildings, fixtures and equipment. Responsible for reporting deficiencies. Other duties as assigned

  • Washes windows, puts out signs, occasionally loads and unloads trucks, and cleans out storage facilities.
