As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery.

What we want

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Executive Director for Clinical Operations, Growth and Outreach, to serve as a member of the Clinical Strategy office. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Nursing, or other healthcare related area.

  • Ten years of experience in increasingly responsible management positions in healthcare organizations (either hospitals, medical groups, or other outpatient clinical settings), including at least three years of multidisciplinary medical group management experience health care and/or health education.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated prior success in developing a large (greater than 50 clinical providers) clinical provider network, with either a hospital or medical group through a matrixed leadership approach. Exhibits the hallmarks of effective leadership.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in business administration, health administration, or clinically related field.

  • Business experience in hospital or physician practice finance, operations and management.

  • Experience in developing and operating clinic locations from de novo circumstances.

  • Expert level knowledge in clinic accreditation and compliance requirements.

  • Experience in Rural Health Clinic reimbursement methodologies.

  • Experienced and comfortable working within highly matrixed organizations.

  • Successful history of developing strong relationships with community organizations for the collaborative provision of clinical care.

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Membership or fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Unrestricted maintenance of licensure is required for candidates with professional degrees subject to licensure in the state of Texas.


  • Working in conjunction with the Deans of each college and under the direct supervision of the Associate Vice President, Clinical Initiatives and Real Estate, develop and implement plans to enhance and expand currently clinical service offerings, and expand in new locations throughout the State of Texas.

  • Explore opportunities to integrate clinical services from all five of the colleges that comprise the Health Science Center in existing and new clinical service locations.

  • Provide consultation and oversight of clinical operations to ensure patient safety and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

  • Ensure that each clinical program, location and or offering is receiving all necessary business support services essential to successful operations. Examples of such services include but are not limited to medical records, all aspects of revenue cycle, credentialing and managed care contracting.

  • Serve as a clinical expert on behalf of Texas A&M University Health when requested to participate in government and charitable foundation workgroups focused on developing new and innovative reimbursement methodologies.

  • Participate in the hiring, evaluation and termination of management level employees specific to locations providing clinical care.

  • Participates in formal and informal clinical faculty recruitment; provides administrative leadership in establishing clinical standards and protocols.

  • Responsible for all TAMU Health clinical units, including directing the efforts of and supervising management and other staff, as needed.

  • Works closely with the AVP for compliance and risk management to minimize regulatory, malpractice, and legal compliance risks.

  • Oversees and participates in the preparation of clinical sites for regulatory surveys as needed; identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risks.

  • Works to ensure clinics are operating in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations in collaboration with the TAMHSC compliance and risk management office.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
