CIVIL ENGINEER (SITE DEVELOPMENT)
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of land development projects including site feasibility and conceptual planning, storm water management, grading, drainage and utility design, erosion and sediment control, permitting as needed, and more. You may also conduct permitting research, due diligence, write specifications and reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type land development projects
Prepare construction drawings, plans, and project specifications
Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, grading plan, street improvements and other underground utilities
Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various plans, reports and design documents
Identify problems, evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions to peers and management
Collaborate with peers and management as necessary to complete work
Assist in performing basic storm water calculations and reporting
Plot and assemble civil engineering plans and reports
Assist other departments with engineering and technical support needs
Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and clients
Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
2+ years of site/civil land development experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations for Texas
Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs
Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts concept through completion
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team environment
EIT or Professional Engineering (PE) license
Previous experience with civil design software packages like StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD, Civil3D
Understanding of other disciplines such as electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying
Experience with project management of construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
Knowledge of processes of governing permitting and/or environmental agencies
Ability to perform design and drafting of civil engineering structures such as equipment foundations or drainage systems using established criteria or specifications
Ability to perform structural analysis and design of site structure foundations
Ability to perform structural design and analysis for foundation design in accordance to IBC, ASCE, AISC standard codes
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Willing to work outdoors for extended periods of time
