Primary purpose: Operates forklift, man-lift and front-end loader to load dump trucks that is used in production, handling, movement of products, such as petroleum coke, soda ash, potash, rock, steel , etc. Essential duties and responsibilities: •Operate front end loader, bobcat, man-lift, and track hoe, Pettibone, or Forklift. • Operates and maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance i.e. lubricating, cleaning, adding gear lubricants, changing bucket cables and document all activities performed daily. • Manipulates or depresses machinery controls such as pedals, levers, and buttons, to regulate speed and direction of movement. • Performs daily lubrication and preventive maintenance, keeping records of all work performed. • Troubleshoots equipment problems and minor repairs. • Inspects equipment for defective parts, documents daily inspections and notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions. • Knows how to fasten attachments, hoses, power takeoff , mechanical linkage, to dozers, loaders, tractor trailer, cherry picker, etc. • Perform jobs in production, housekeeping, maintenance, clerical, operation, labor, etc. that might be assigned by supervision. • Cleans and maintains equipment and hoisting mechanism. • Performs activities of other co-workers • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner. • Cross train in the operation of any equipment as required by Kinder Morgan. • This includes but not limited the ability to work at any of the Kinder Morgan, Inc. locations. • Assists foreman by setting an example and leading other employees in performing the daily work duties as directed by Supervision.
Education: •High school/GED; or up to one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience / specific knowledge: •Experience operating a wheel loader or front end operator •Marine or terminal experience preferred not required Certifications, licenses, registrations: •Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers • Must be willing to carry company issued cellular telephone and/or pager and be on-call for repair work as may be required. •Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies during and after regular business hours including after dark hours. •Willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment •Ability to become a certified operator on each piece of equipment •Must pass and complete any required Kinder Morgan specific safety training as may be required by Customer(s) and as required at all Kinder Morgan work locations •Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) •Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets •The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed Competencies, skills, and abilities: •Prioritize and plans work activities using time efficiently, plans for additional resources, organizes schedules of other people and their tasks, develops realistic action plans •Safety in performance of duties common to the position •Ability to deal with standardized situations (occasional or no variables) • Works independently without or little supervision, working to meet productivity goals •Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio and hand signals •In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required •Able to carry out supervisors instructions •Self-motivated • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus attention to details, and follow work rule Physical/Working Conditions: • Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on track rail equipment, frequent vibration, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, uneven terrain and high noise level in the work environment • Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, etc. for extended periods of time • Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio and hand signals • Regularly lift and/or move a minimum of 10 pounds in awkward positions, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
